Employee Spotlight: Rafael Rego

For today’s Employee Spotlight, we take a trip to the US office where we meet Rafael Rego, one of our Service Delivery Managers who is celebrating his one-year anniversary at Blue Wireless this month.

Hi Rafael, thank you for taking the time to let us get to know you! First things first, where are you from and how did you end up in Richmond?

Hello, my pleasure! I hail from São Paulo, Brazil, where I spent most of my life. After studying business management, I embarked on a cultural exchange program to improve my English skills. That journey led me to various corners of the United States, including New York, Maryland, and DC, until finally settling in Richmond, VA. It's been quite the adventure from pursuing my studies to finding myself in the telecom industry.

Interesting, can you share more about what drew you to the telecom industry and how your diverse career path prepared you for your role at Blue Wireless?
Before joining Blue Wireless, my career journey was diverse. I assumed my first management position at 19, overseeing a print store near the university where I pursued my bachelor's degree. Eventually, I found my calling in logistics, thanks to a stint with the Brazilian government. However, it was Blue Wireless that truly captured my interest, offering a blend of my professional skills and my love for languages. Working for BW USA has been an incredible experience, witnessing its significant growth since I joined. I'm thrilled to be part of a company that allows me to explore new countries and cultures while contributing to its success.

From a printing store to the telecom industry is quite the change! Can you tell us more about what you do today?

As the service delivery manager for Latin America, my role revolves around ensuring seamless delivery of our services and products. From managing logistics to procurement processes, I oversee the details to guarantee customer satisfaction. Since I joined, our team has expanded significantly, welcoming new colleagues and forging partnerships across different countries.

Impressive career path! Could you tell us a bit more about your hobbies, far from the installations and the routers?
Outside of BW, I cherish spending time outdoors, often found in a nearby park with my loyal companion, my 11-year-old Labrador. Music is another passion of mine—I've been playing the flute since childhood, and I also enjoy strumming the guitar and bass while singing along.
