Hi Ilayda, we're excited to hear your story! Can you tell us a bit about your background - where you're originally from and what brought you to Australia?
Hi! My name is Ilayda. I am originally from Turkey, and I moved to Australia. I have a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Turkey.
Moving from Turkey to Australia has been a really exciting journey for me. Leaving my home country wasn't easy - I still miss the Turkish food and especially the beautiful Bosphorus view. However, today I am happy to call Australia my home.
Living in such a multicultural country has really broadened my perspective and made me more open-minded. It has also helped me grow as a person and gain confidence, both in my personal life and in my professional journey. I really enjoy living in Sydney. It's a city where there's always something new to discover, even in everyday life. Starting the day with a good coffee - which the city does exceptionally well - and picking up some pastry fresh from a local bakery has become one of my favourite routines. It may be simple, but these small moments genuinely make each day feel better.
Sounds amazing indeed! Could you tell us about your role at Blue Wireless: what do you do day to day, what do you enjoy most, and how has the team evolved since you joined?
In my role as a Procurement Assistant, I support the purchasing/procurement process from start to finish. This includes working with suppliers, cost optimisation, placing and tracking orders, and making sure everything is delivered on time.
What I enjoy most about this role is how dynamic it is. Every day is different, and there's always something new to deal with, finding a new solution that keeps me engaged and learning. I also like working in a dynamic environment where attention to detail really matters.
Since joining the team, I've noticed a real improvement in how we communicate and work together, and I really enjoy being part of such a supportive and collaborative environment.
Now that we’ve got a feel for your day-to-day at work, what do you get up to outside of it - any hobbies or current favourites?
Outside of work, I like to keep a balanced and active lifestyle. Swimming is one of my favourite ways to relax and clear my mind, and I really enjoy bushwalking and camping.
Also trying new foods and exploring different cuisines - especially living in a multicultural country like Australia, a great chance 🙂
In my free time, traveling and discover new places whenever I get the chance. Most importantly, I really value spending time with my friends and my family, whether it's going out for coffee or exploring somewhere new.
If a friend asked what it’s like at Blue Wireless Sydney, what would you say - and would you recommend it?
What I really like about Blue Wireless Sydney is the people and the way the team works together. It feels like a supportive environment where everyone communicates well, helps each other, and genuinely works as a team.
I also like that it's a dynamic workplace, with real opportunities to learn and grow.
From what I've seen, the culture is very positive and motivating. I honestly feel it's the kind of place where I would enjoy working, contribute to the team, and continue developing my skills at the same time.
